Managing Tasks in LatchLoop: A User-Friendly Guide

Welcome to LatchLoop! This guide will help you understand how to create, view, search, and manage tasks in your projects. Whether you’re working solo or with a team, LatchLoop makes it easy to organize and track your coding tasks from start to finish.

1. Creating Tasks

You can add tasks to any project in LatchLoop in two main ways:

A. Create a New Task Manually

  • Go to your project’s task list or board.
  • Click the “Add Task” button (or press the T key as a shortcut).
  • Enter a task name and description.
  • The new task will appear in your project’s task list with a status of Pending.

B. Import a Task from ClickUp

  • Go to the Add Task page.
  • Switch to the “Import Task” tab.
  • Enter your ClickUp Task ID and select the project to import into.
  • The task (and its subtasks) will be imported and tracked in LatchLoop.

2. Viewing Tasks

LatchLoop offers two main ways to view your tasks:

A. List View

  • See all tasks in a table-like list.
  • Filter by status, assignee, or unread status.
  • Use keyboard shortcuts to navigate quickly (see below).

B. Board View (Kanban)

  • Tasks are grouped in columns by their status (e.g., Pending, Reviewed, Ready to Build, PR Open, Complete).
  • Drag-and-drop is not yet supported, but you can easily see progress at a glance.
  • Collapse columns (like “Complete”) to keep your board tidy.

Switch between views using the buttons at the top of your project’s task page.

3. Task Statuses & Workflow

Each task in LatchLoop moves through a series of statuses as you work on it:

StatusWhat it Means
PendingTask is newly created and not yet reviewed.
ReviewedTask has been analyzed or reviewed and is ready for planning.
Ready to BuildTask is ready for the AI agent to start coding.
BuildingLatchLoop is actively working on the task.
Commits PushedCode has been generated and pushed to a branch.
PR OpenA Pull Request has been created for this task.
Complete / MergedTask is finished and merged into your codebase.
ArchivedTask is hidden from active views but can be restored later.

Tip: You can see the current status of each task as a colored badge or progress bar.

4. Marking Tasks as Complete

  • To mark a task as Complete, click the checkmark button on the task card or in the task detail view.
  • If a task is already complete or merged, clicking the checkmark will mark it as Pending again (useful if you need to reopen a task).

5. Searching & Filtering Tasks

LatchLoop makes it easy to find the tasks you need:

  • Search by Name or ID: Use the search bar at the top of the task list or board. Press S to focus the search box quickly.
  • Filter by Status: Use the filter buttons (e.g., All Open, Pending, Reviewed, Ready to Build, PR Open, Complete) to narrow down tasks.
  • Filter by Assignee: Click the assignee filter to show tasks assigned to you or a specific team member.
  • Show Only Unread Tasks: Click the “Unread” filter to see tasks with updates you haven’t viewed yet.

  • Edit the task name and description.
  • See status, assignees, project, branch, and PR links.
  • View and reply to AI messages and feedback.
  • Assign or unassign team members.
  • Archive, unarchive, move, or delete the task.
  • See a summary of subtasks and related information.

  • Q: Go back to the project’s task list from a task detail page
  • G: Open the GitHub Pull Request for the task (if available)

8. Archiving and Restoring Tasks

  • Archive a task from the task’s menu if it’s no longer active.
  • View archived tasks in the Task Archive page (accessible from the sidebar or project menu).
  • Unarchive a task at any time to bring it back to your active list.

9. Task Read/Unread Status

  • LatchLoop tracks which tasks you’ve viewed and highlights tasks with updates you haven’t seen yet.
  • Use the “Unread” filter to focus on tasks with new activity.
